It’s approaching the time of year when ski trips are most popular. Many resorts will ‘guarantee’ snow for the next few weeks – and it’s sometimes hard to turn your nose up at such an exciting offer. Unfortunately, such a holiday can be very expensive. However, there are several tricks to keeping the cost down. With this in mind, here are four ways you can keep a ski trip cheap and cheerful.

Buy your gear BEFORE you go

You could gamble that the gear will be cheaper when you touch down at the resort, but this is highly unlikely. Meanwhile, if you do buy your necessities before the getaway you can shop around for the best deals and offers. This way will also mean you can hit the slopes immediately when you arrive rather than waste precious time looking around shops.

Take out travel insurance

There are some people who never take out travel insurance and never live to regret it. However, it’s certainly much more likely that you could injure yourself on a ski trip. If you go without insurance, you don’t just risk extortionate medical bills in the event of an accident. Instead, you risk writing off your holiday altogether if you get hurt.

Weigh up the lift pass situation

Yes, you’ll need a lift pass, there’s really no doubt about that. The question is – which one do you go for? It’s not uncommon for there to be a number of passes available, including ones that allow you to jump the queue and ones that allow you to use more advanced slopes. Do a little research before you make your decision and you shouldn’t overspend on a pass that you don’t really need.

Go self-catering

If you stay in self-catering accommodation, you will save money on eating out. As well, you can get out earlier in the mornings and spend more time whizzing up and down the slopes.

Have fun for less!

You should be able to travel with a small budget if you keep to these four tricks before your ski trip. All the money saved could even go towards another break in the not-so-distant future.
